Marandi visits Ghorathamba, targets Govt for minority appeasement

Tuesday, 18 March 2025 | PNS | Ranchi

Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi took stock of the violent clashes that took place on Holi in Ghorathamba market of Giridih district. He walked through the entire market and inspected the burnt shops. He also met the victims and reviewed the entire incident.

Targeting the state government for having minority appeasement policy, he said that the role of the police in this entire episode was to protect the criminals, goons, miscreants and attackers. He said that every year people have been going on the street and road in Ghorathamba on which no dispute took place during festivals, but this year, Hindu brothers were attacked in a planned manner while playing Holi.

He said that the role of the police during the stone pelting made it clear that the police had already decided to escalate the matter. The station in-charge and the CO parked their vehicles on the road and remained silent spectators, and petrol bombs and stones continued to be thrown.

He said that after the news of the attack spread, people of the Hindu community gathered there, but the police administration is deliberately implicating the innocent people as well.

He said that innocent people are being called from their homes at 2.30 in the night and put in jail. This matter is purely of a one-sided attack, but the police administration is making it bilateral and torturing the innocent people.

He said that till when will people continue to bear atrocities. If festivals can be celebrated peacefully, then how will the Hindu community survive? He said that those who have a problem with color and abir have no problem in shedding blood.

He said that the ruling party of the state and the police administration are giving false statements. Those who had color and abir in their hands are being sent to jail and those who threw stones are being saved. Action should be taken against the stone pelters.

He said that the police should investigate the CCTV footage, from where the stones were coming, action should be taken against who threw the petrol bomb. How the stone reached, in whose house the stone was stored, this should also be investigated. He said that after seeing the FIR it seems as if the people of the Hindu community were going to attack the mosque.

He said that if people do not get justice, then the BJP will be forced to launch a strong movement against the state government not only in Giridih but in the entire state. He demanded from the state government that the Ghod Thamba police station in-charge and CO should be removed immediately.
