LS Speaker Om Birla to inaugurate two-day orientation programme for MLAs in Hry today

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will inaugurate a two-day orientation programme for members of the Haryana Legislative Assembly on Friday. 

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda, Punjab Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Haryana Deputy Speaker Krishan Lal Middha, Uttar Pradesh Speaker Satish Mahana, Himachal Pradesh Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania and Gujarat Speaker Shankarbhai Chaudhary will be special participant in the programme.

This program is being organised by the Haryana Legislative Assembly in collaboration with the Institute for Parliamentary Democracy Research and Training (PRIDE) of the Lok Sabha.  

Haryana speaker Harvinder Kalyan said the training sessions for MLAs will take place in the House, with special arrangements being made across the campus. A team from the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies will conduct sessions on various subjects. A video film about the functioning of PRIDE will also be screened.

On the first day, the Preamble of the Constitution of India will be read out and in the afternoon, Punjab Speaker Kultar Singh Randhawa and Speaker of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Satish Mahana will deliver an address on legislative experience. Lok Sabha Member and Chairman of the Joint Committee on Wakf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 Jagdambika Pal will address on how to be an effective MLA, what members should do and what they should not do. Apart from this, Lok Sabha Member and Chairman of the Estimates Committee Sanjay Jaiswal and Advisor to AICTE, Ministry of Education, Government of India, (Joint Secretary, Rajya Sabha Secretariat) Raghab Prasad Das will speak on the accountability of the executive through questions and other means in the legislatures.

Former Member of Parliament, Satya Pal Singh and Joint Secretary of Lok Sabha Secretariat YM Kandpal will give a speech on the Committee System - Reflection of Parliamentary Democracy. The spokesperson said on February 15, in the morning session, Gujarat Speaker Shankar Bhai Chaudhary will give a speech on legislative experience. Apart from this, former Lok Sabha member Satya Pal Singh and Joint Secretary, Rajya Sabha Secretariat Raghab Prasad Das will give a speech on legislative and financial work in the Indian Parliament and Haryana Legislative Assembly. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister and Power Minister Manohar Lal will give a speech on the role of a minister in legislative processes.
