Just days before the Delhi Assembly elections, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday released a video message urging BJP supporters to consider the benefits of his government’s policies.
Warning that a BJP victory would mean the end of free electricity, water, healthcare, and women’s free bus travel, the AAP Chief argued that families would be burdened with Rs 25,000 in extra expenses every month.
He recounted an interaction with a BJP voter, emphasising that free education, electricity, and healthcare could be at risk if AAP loses. “You get free education, free electricity, and free health treatment In Delhi. This all will stop if I don’t win,” he said, adding, “Vote for yourself and press the button of ‘Jhaadu’ (broom),” Kejriwal urged. “Agar mein haar gaya to aapka kya hoga?” (If I lose, what will happen to you?), he asked. Kejriwal elaborated on the discussion, asking the BJP supporter about his children’s education. The supporter acknowledged that they studied in a government school in Delhi. Kejriwal then compared this with the condition of schools in BJP-ruled states and warned that if he did not win, Delhi’s government schools would deteriorate. In the three-minute video, Kejriwal recalled a conversation with a BJP supporter who had asked him, “Arvind ji, what will happen to you if you lose?” Kejriwal responded, “Don’t talk about me, tell me what will happen to you if I lose?” He went on to highlight how his government’s policies had benefited Delhi’s residents. The AAP Supremo then asked where the supporter’s children studied. The man replied that they attended a government school. Arvind Kejriwal followed up by asking about the quality of the schools now. The supporter admitted that the schools had improved significantly, teachers were better, and results had improved. Kejriwal then asked how many states the BJP governed. The supporter responded, “20 states.” the AAP Chief asked, “In which BJP-ruled state are government schools as good as Delhi’s?” The supporter admitted, “Nowhere.” Arvind Kejriwal then asked, “So if I lose, what will happen to your children? Won’t Delhi’s government schools decline again?” The supporter agreed, saying, “That’s true.”
Kejriwal continued, asking, “Do you get 24x7 electricity in Delhi?” The supporter replied, “Yes.” the AAP Head then asked, “In which BJP-ruled state is there 24x7 electricity?” After thinking for a moment, the supporter admitted, “Nowhere.” Arvind Kejriwal further inquired, “How much is your electricity bill?” The supporter replied, “Zero.” the AAP Chief then asked, “In BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, how much is the electricity bill?” The supporter admitted, “Thousands of rupees.” Arvind Kejriwal reiterated, “So if I lose, what will happen to you?”
Kejriwal underscored the benefits his administration had provided, arguing that they would be at risk if AAP lost power. Citing BJP-ruled states as examples, he pointed out the absence of 24x7 free electricity and quality government schools, urging voters to look beyond politics and consider the real impact on their lives.
He encouraged them to vote for his party in the upcoming February 5 elections, warning that these benefits might be discontinued if AAP is not re-elected.
