BJP leaders on Tuesday slammed the AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal of making a dangerous statement and asked him to prove that there is poison in the water or else apologise immediately.
Lambasting the AAP chief, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said even Pakistan did not make such an allegation against India during wars, claiming that Kejriwal has made a low-level claim to hide his failures, and sensing his party's impending defeat in the Delhi Assembly polls.
BJP manifesto committee chairman Ramvir Singh Bidhuri slammed the AAP chief saying poison is not in the water of Yamuna but in the mind of him. “Seeing the defeat in the elections, he is now losing his senses and is making baseless allegations,” Bidhuri said.
He said that Kejriwal has polluted the Yamuna in Delhi so much in ten years that he cannot even take its water in a handful, while he used to talk about bathing in it. The silt of Delhi's water treatment plants has not been removed, due to which their capacity is being badly affected.
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly and BJP candidate from Rohini Assembly constituency, Vijender Gupta, on Tuesday described Arvind Kejriwal's accusation of Haryana sending toxic water to Delhi as a result of his desperation.
Making this assertion, Gupta also claimed that Kejriwal and other senior AAP leaders are frustrated by the prospect of their defeat and, losing mental balance and are making baseless statements. Addressing people during a padyatra in sector-13 of Rohini Assembly constituency, Gupta said Kejriwal has done nothing for the people of Delhi in the last ten years, leading to widespread public dissatisfaction.
He stated that the people have decided to uproot AAP's government this time, and as a result, Kejriwal and his party leaders have already realised their defeat.
The BJP leader remarked that old slogans like shining Delhi's roads and free electricity and water will not work anymore as the public has seen through their motives.
He appealed to the people of Delhi to replace Kejriwal's corrupt government and hand over the reins to the BJP. Gupta assured them that with a “double-engine government,” BJP would understand and quickly resolve their problems. He promised that as soon as the BJP comes to power, all Central Government schemes would be implemented for the people of Delhi from day one.
