The city is all set to celebrate the 186th birth anniversary of its founder, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, on March 3, with the theme “Leadership in Market, Technology, and Cost.” This year’s celebrations will emphasize Tata Steel’s commitment to prioritizing customer needs and leveraging technology to achieve global cost leadership.
The annual Founder’s Day celebration pays tribute to J N Tata's vision of an industrial future that integrates community welfare. His pioneering spirit inspired India’s steel and power industry, set the foundation for technical education, and propelled the nation towards industrialization.
Addressing a press meet, Chanakya Chaudhary, vice president, corporate services, Tata Steel and Ritu Raj Sinha, managing director, Tata Steel UISL, said that as part of the festivities, Tata Steel UISL will illuminate five parks and 26 roundabouts across Jamshedpur, transforming the city into a vibrant spectacle. Landmarks including Jubilee Park, Dorabji Tata Park, and various heritage buildings such as the Tata Workers’ Union Office, Golmuri Clock Tower, and Tatanagar Railway Station will be decorated with colorful lights.
As part of the celebration on March 1, the new Prem Jyoti Prangan School with modern infrastructure, funded by Tata Steel Foundation, will be inaugurated, offering a sustainable learning environment. Jamshedpur’s first pet crematorium, aimed at providing a dignified and environmentally responsible solution for pet owners, will also be inaugurated on March 1.
N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, will pay homage at Jubilee Park on March 2. The park will be open to the public from March 3-5, with pedestrian access from 5 pm to 10 pm and vehicular movement allowed for viewing illumination from 10 pm to 11 pm. A laser show will be showcased daily from March 3 to March 5 with three shows each evening.
On March 4, Tata Main Hospital (TMH) will dedicate a dedicated Spine Clinic and a Stroke Unit, designed for comprehensive management of spinal problems and rapid stroke assessment, respectively.
Founder’s Day Sports: Scheduled for March 2 and 3 at JRD Tata Sports Complex, the event will see 350 participants competing in 31 diverse events, including activities for transpersons, specially-abled children, and corporate executives. TV Narendran, CEO & MD of Tata Steel will be the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony, which will feature a March Past by trainees accompanied by the band from Prem Jyoti School.
