The inaugural edition of the Loyola Alumni Premier League (LAPL) – Season 1 concluded in spectacular fashion, leaving behind a trail of nostalgia, competitive spirit, and Loyola pride. The three-day cricket tournament, held at the Loyola School grounds, brought together alumni from various graduating batches for a friendly yet fiercely fought series of matches.

Four spirited teams — Jaguars United, Cheetah Crusaders, Leopard Dynamos, and Panther Warriors — competed in a league format that thrilled spectators and reconnected old friends through the spirit of the game.

The final clash between Jaguars United and Cheetah Crusaders was a gripping encounter, ultimately seeing Jaguars United lift the LAPL Season 1 Champions Trophy. The tournament also celebrated individual brilliance, with Jasraj Khanuja bagging both the Best Batsman and Player of the Tournament titles, while Harshil Dokonia was named Best Bowler for his exceptional performance.

More than just a cricket tournament, LAPL served as a vibrant platform for reconnecting Loyola alumni, fostering friendships old and new, and celebrating a shared heritage of excellence and community. Families, faculty, and supporters turned up in large numbers, filling the grounds with energy and enthusiasm.

The closing ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries including Fr. Donald Desilva, Dean of XLRI; Fr. Vinod Fernandes, Principal and President of the Loyola Alumni Association (LAA); Jesuits of Loyola, and distinguished alumni. All praised the organising committee for their impeccable planning, vision, and execution.

With its resounding success, LAPL Season 1 has laid the foundation for what promises to become an annual alumni tradition, further strengthening the Loyola network through sports and solidarity.
