INOX Air Products (INOXAP), India’s leading industrial gas manufacturer, has successfully commissioned its largest-ever Air Separation Unit (ASU) at the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)’s Bokaro Steel Plant. The ASU, with an installed capacity of 2150 tons per day (TPD), is INOXAP’s biggest investment in a Greenfield Oxygen Plant in India, valued at INR 750 crore. It is also the largest ASU installed at any SAIL facility nationwide.
The state-of-the-art ASU will produce 2000 TPD of gaseous oxygen, 150 TPD of liquid oxygen, 1200 TPD of nitrogen, and 100 TPD of argon. INOXAP already operates an ASU with a capacity of 1250 TPD at the same plant. With the commissioning of this new unit, the combined production capacity of INOXAP at SAIL Bokaro now exceeds 6300 TPD, significantly strengthening the supply of industrial gases.
Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of INOXAP, called this a major milestone in the company’s journey, emphasizing that this is SAIL's largest ASU and a testament to the reliability and capability of INOXAP. He stated, “This achievement underscores our commitment to exceeding stakeholder expectations while contributing to the nation’s industrial growth.”
During the commissioning, Siddharth Jain met with B.K. Tiwari, Director-in-Charge (DIC) of SAIL Bokaro Steel Plant, to discuss the operational impact and future collaboration. Both leaders emphasized the importance of this partnership in enhancing efficiency and productivity at Bokaro Steel Plant.
INOXAP's long-standing partnership with SAIL began in 2008, with the installation of its first onsite cryogenic ASU at Bokaro Steel Plant, followed by another at SAIL's Salem Plant. This latest commissioning reflects the company’s continued focus on innovation and operational excellence.
