Spring Edition of CLF Literati 2025 to be held on March 22

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) has announced the Spring Edition of CLF Literati 2025 – A Festival of Ideas. Scheduled for March 22 at the UT Guest House, this event promises to be an inspiring platform for literature, dialogue, creativity, and cultural exchange. Dr Sumita Misra, Chairperson of CLS and Festival Director, while announcing the date of the Festival, said: “CLF Literati has always been more than just a festival. It is a confluence of ideas, creativity, and cultural dialogue. With the Spring Edition of Literati 2025, we continue our journey of celebrating literature and the arts, fostering conversations that inspire and perspectives that challenge.” The festival will feature renowned authors, poets, and literary critics, engaging in insightful discussions, along with interactive sessions designed to ignite curiosity and inspire creativity. CLS has long been at the forefront of promoting literature, art, and culture in City Beautiful and Literati has established itself as one of the most eagerly awaited literary festivals in the region. “The Spring Edition aspires to set new benchmarks with a dynamic mix of thought-provoking sessions and captivating performances, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all attendees,” added Dr. Misra.

 
 Aravalli Green Wall Project to be officially inaugurated on Feb 6

Chandigarh: Haryana Environment, Forest and Wildlife Minister Rao Narbir Singh on Wednesday said that the State has prepared an outline of the Aravalli Green Wall Project, inspired by similar efforts in Saudi Arabia, aimed at increasing the region’s greenery. Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav will officially inaugurate the project on February 6. He emphasized that the Aravalli Mountain range, the oldest of its kind, is a source of pride for Haryana. Spanning over 1.15 million hectares, it covers parts of Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Haryana. To enhance the environmental balance in the region, the initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi — Mission LIFE (Lifestyle for Environment) — along with the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam program, is a commendable step. Singh highlighted that while Saudi Arabia is a desert country, it has successfully increased its greenery through the development of green belts in an impressive manner.

Hry CS to hold additional charge of Resident Commissioner of Haryana Bhawan


Chandigarh: Vivek Joshi, Chief Secretary, General Administration, Human Resources, Personnel & Training, Parliamentary Affairs, Vigilance Departments and Secretary-in- charge of Planning & Coordination, will hold the additional charge of Resident Commissioner, Haryana Bhawan, New Delhi. Apart from this, the charge of Director General, HIPA, Gurugram has been assigned to Commissioner, Gurugram Division, Gurugram, in addition to his present duties, with immediate effect till further orders. Orders in this regard were issued by the Personnel Department of the Haryana Government here in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

 


Congress to take decision on contesting civic elections on party symbol today: Hooda

Chandigarh: Former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda on Wednesday said that an important meeting of the State Congress will be held regarding the civic elections. State President Chaudhary Udai Bhan has decided to call a meeting in Delhi on Thursday. It will be subject to discussions as to whether the civic elections will be fought on the party symbol or not. This is because the Mayor has been fighting the elections on Congress symbol. Apart from the Mayor, whether the elections for councillor or chairman should be contested on the symbol or not will be taken after discussions in the meeting. Answering questions from journalists, Hooda also said that the BJP government has significantly delayed these elections by continuously postponing them. In any case, Congress is always ready for elections. Congress will soon decide on its policy and strategy for the civic elections.


 'No work No pay' principle against those employees who remain on strike in MCC


Chandigarh: Acting tough against the employees goes on strike, the MC Commissioner ordered to implement 'No work No pay' principle against those employees who remain on strike and FIR will also be registered against those found creating hindrance to the other workers to perform their duty.  If the striking employees create any type of disruption and hindrance for other  workers, in addition to deduction of pay for the strike days, FIR will also be registered against those found responsible. Further, during strike, if any damage to property of the Corporation is reported, one month salary will be deducted alongwith registration of FIR subject to the documentary/video evidence.

City Mayor inaugurates cancer screening camp for MC employees


Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation (MC) Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Mullanpur, organized a Cancer Screening Camp at Rani Laxmi Bai Mahila Bhawan, Sector 38C, for MC employees and their families. City Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla inaugurated the camp, highlighting the significance of early cancer detection in improving treatment outcomes. 


Kataria administers oath of office to Mahavir Singh as Chief Commissioner, Chandigarh Right to Service Commission

Chandigarh: Gulab Chand Kataria, Administrator of UT Chandigarh on Wednesday administered the oath of office to Mahavir Singh, IAS (Retd.) as Chief Commissioner, Chandigarh Right to Service Commission. Singh, 1989-batch Haryana-cadre IAS officer, retired on February 28, 2023 upon attaining the age of superannuation.
