Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, important decisions have been taken for the systematic development of cities along with promoting industrial development and investors in the state. The process of 2 metropolitan areas (metropolis) in the state is being carried out by the Urban Development and Housing Department.
The process of developing the first metropolitan area by combining Indore-Ujjain-Dewas and Dhar is underway. Similarly, the process of developing the second metropolitan area by combining Bhopal-Sehore-Raisen-Vidisha-Biora (Rajgarh) is in progress. Their formation will help in establishing Madhya Pradesh as an economic development centre.
In line with the vision of the Central Government, the major divisional headquarters of the state Gwalior, Sagar, Rewa, Jabalpur, Narmadapuram and Shahdol are being developed as Regional Economic Growth Hubs. This effort of the state government will boost the economy of the state as well as promote new opportunities for employment, business and investment.
The land in the urban areas of the state is a valuable resource, its systematic use is very crucial for urban development. Keeping this in mind, TDR (Transfer of Development Rights) rules have been made. An online process has been prescribed for the implementation of these rules. TDR portal has been prepared for the online process. This portal facilitates the transfer of development rights to builders and property owners. This gives them additional construction capacity as compensation.
The Green FAR concept has been presented for the development of green areas, wooded areas and city forests under the Integrated Township Policy. This concept will not only enhance urban beauty, but is also proving to be an important step towards environmental protection and sustainable development.
The state government has formulated the Integrated Township Policy-2025 to promote sustainable urban development. The objective of this policy is to develop well-organized, modern and self-reliant townships through the participation of private and public sectors. This policy will promote better basic facilities, green residential areas and smart infrastructure.
The land pooling concept has also been adopted in this policy, which will give land owners an opportunity to participate in development with proper compensation. Automatic Building Permission and Approval System has been developed to ensure transparency and accountability in the process of building permission in the state. So far 2 lakh 60 thousand applications have been approved in the state.
