The Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS) will celebrate its 49th Foundation Day with a grand three-day cultural festival from March 21 to 23, 2025. This year’s theme, “Cultural Diversity of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,” will showcase the rich traditions, folk arts, music, dance, and cuisine of these two states.
The event will commence on March 21 at 6:30 pm with the lighting of the "Al-Villaku", a traditional lamp with 1001 wicks. Lieutenant General Preet Pal Singh, AVSM, General Officer Commanding, Headquarters 21 Corps, will be the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony.
A special exhibition titled "Telugu Thanam" will open on March 22 at 4:00 pm, displaying the cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Highlights include the iconic Godavari village drum, traditional leather puppets, and other cultural symbols. This will be followed by a book exhibition at 4:30 pm, featuring literature focused on the history, traditions, and heritage of these states.
Each evening from March 21 to 23, starting at 6:30 pm, visitors can enjoy captivating cultural performances of traditional Telugu music and dance forms. The lineup includes "Keelu Gurram," "Oggu Katha," "Kolattam," "Dappu," "Thappetta Gullu," "Gussadi Dance," and "Chekka Bhajan."
Throughout the festival, attendees will have the opportunity to savor the authentic flavors of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The culinary offerings will include popular dishes such as "Lemon Rice," "Vada," "Paramannam," "Idli-Dosa," "Gongura Chutney," "Hari Setu," "Jhantikalu," "Punukulu," and "Natu Kodi."
