Himachal Pradesh has been honoured with the Diamond States Award for its remarkable progress under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The prestigious award was presented during the Diamond States Summit 2025 organized by Network 18 in New Delhi on Sunday.
Sukhu, expressing his vision for the state, emphasized his government’s commitment to structural reforms aimed at making Himachal Pradesh self-reliant and one of the richest states in the country. He asserted that his administration is actively securing the state's rightful share of funds in the federal system to drive development.
Highlighting his priorities, the Chief Minister said that his government is strengthening education and healthcare, with a focus on upgrading medical technology. He also underlined efforts to harness hydro potential, ensuring that Himachal receives enhanced royalties and regains control of hydro projects. Speaking on his ambitious Vision 2027, he reiterated the goal of making Himachal Pradesh India’s first Green Energy State by 2026, with 626 MW of solar projects in various stages of development.
Recognizing tourism as the backbone of the state's economy, Sukhu announced the development of four natural wellness centers to boost health tourism. He also shared his belief in simplicity, recalling how he drove his own Alto car to the state assembly for the budget presentation, symbolizing his connection with the common man. The summit was attended by senior government officials, including Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty.
