Under the direction of Garhwa Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Jamuar, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Sanjay Kumar has been proactively taking action on various law and order issues. On Wednesday, he conducted a surprise raid on an illegal gas storage facility in Sahijna. Additionally, he caught a petrol pump near Garhwa Block red-handed for dispensing diesel and petrol into bottles.
Following the SDO's instructions, Garhwa police apprehended individuals involved in the illegal storage and sale of firecrackers in the market. Furthermore, the licence of an overloaded vehicle driver was confiscated on Chinia Road.
In light of the upcoming festivals, the SDO has instructed the Food Safety Officer to conduct thorough inspections of food items, particularly paneer and khoya, and to submit daily reports.
Acting on confidential information, the SDO raided an illegal gas storage facility operating in a private residence in Sahijna. The homeowner and the storage facility operator were handed over to Garhwa police. Over 150 domestic gas cylinders were found illegally stored at the location. Sanjay Kumar stated that Garhwa police are investigating how the storage facility operator obtained the illegal stock and from which agencies. Strict action will be taken against the concerned agency operators if facts are revealed. If necessary, recommendations will also be made to revoke the agencies' licences in accordance with regulations.
After catching a petrol pump on Katcheri Road red-handed dispensing diesel and petrol into bottles from the pump nozzle, Sanjay Kumar issued a notice to the petrol pump operator. If a satisfactory response is not received, action will be taken to revoke the petrol pump's licence.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, he immediately issued written orders to all petrol operators, station in-charges, and zonal officers, prohibiting the dispensing of fuel into bottles or gallons at any petrol pump, as it poses a significant risk to public safety.
In addition, the SDO is continuously conducting campaigns against overloading. Inspections were carried out on the bypass and Chinia Road, during which the licence of one vehicle driver was provisionally seized for overloading.
Given the potential for food adulteration during festivals, he has instructed the Food Safety Officer to create a roster for intensive raids and inspections. He also directed the officer to regularly provide him with reports related to the raids.
In response to noise pollution concerns, a DJ set was seized along with the vehicle late on Tuesday night.
