‘Fugitive’ gangster Joginder Geong, who was convicted in about 15 cases including murder, was arrested after being deported from the Philippines. Geong was residing in the Philippines under a fraudulently obtained passport in the name of Kant Gupta, said a police official.
In a joint operation of Delhi and Haryana Police, the accused was arrested. Geong, an active member of Kaushal Chaudhary gang, has been convicted in about 15 cases, including five murder cases. Geong was deported from Manila, Philippines on February 1, and heads a criminal syndicate which operates in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab, said police.
Additional Commissioner of Police, Special Cell (Delhi Police), Parmod Kushwaha said: “Joginder Geong was an active associate of Kaushal Chaudhary. His brother, Surinder Geong was a close associate of Kaushal Chaudhary. Surinder Geong died in 2017 in an exchange of fire with Police. After that, Joginder Geong left for the Philippines through Nepal.”
He was trying to revive the network of Kaushal Chaudhary, he said. While Chaudhary is currently serving jail time, Geong was operating from Manila trying to revive the network of Kushal Chaudhary Gang, said the police.
“This was an important cause of concern for us because Kaushal Chaudhary's active association was found in three cases in Punjab which had footprints of terror networks — be it the murder of Gurlal Brar or Vicky Middukhera or Sandeep Nangal Ambian. Arsh Dalla, Lucky Patial had a role in these murders,” said Additional CP Kushwaha.
“Kaushal Chaudhary provided logistics to the shooters. Since Kaushal Chaudhary was actively associated with this, and he (Joginder Geong) was a special member of Chaudhary’s, he was our focus. He was tracked, active intelligence was shared with Haryana Police and after that he was located in the Philippines and deported from there following a judicial process. His Police custody remand will be taken by the concerned Police and things will come out.” he added.
Another Police official said that he was residing in Philippines under a fraudulently obtained passport in the name of Kant Gupta. Meanwhile, Joginder is also alleged to have links with pro-Khalistan extremist groups, the official said.
Geong was convicted to life imprisonment in a murder case in 2006, meanwhile, while he was on parole in 2017, he murdered one Jagdev Sharma in Panipat and fled the country, via Nepal to Philippines, sources said. Geong was arrested in the Philippines in July last year. He had a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head for his alleged involvement in the Panipat murder case.
