A one-day football tournament was successfully organized in Tentla by the social organization 'Yuva' (Youth Unity for Voluntary Action) in collaboration with Girls Fast Fund to spread awareness about gender-based violence and child marriage. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from four girls’ teams and four boys’ teams, reflecting the community’s commitment to gender equality and social transformation.
During the event, Yuva member Anjana Devgam emphasized the core objective of the tournament, stating that the initiative aims to prevent child marriage and eradicate gender violence. She further highlighted the importance of challenging traditional stereotypes that associate football exclusively with boys. “Through this event, we wanted to send a strong message that girls deserve equal opportunities in sports and beyond,” said Devgam.
The tournament showcased remarkable talent and sportsmanship, with the following results: Girls' Category: Winner: FC Tentla, Runner-up: Naga FC, Boys' Category: Winning Teams: MC Chardih & Tentla FC
The event’s success was made possible through the support and active participation of community leaders and social activists. Among those present were Tentla Panchayat’s ward members Sulochana Sardar, Avanti Sardar, Village Head Nandlal Sardar, Bhim Baske, Brijesh Sardar, Sunil Sardar, and Hira Gop. Additionally, Yuva’s members Chandmani, Reela Sardar, Kiran Sardar, Arup Mandal, Ratan Pal, and teenage girl leaders played a crucial role in organizing and executing the tournament.
