Five auto rickshaw drivers were found driving under the influence of alcohol during a surprise check by TT Nagar Police.
The surprise check was conducted on auto rickshaw drivers due to growing concerns from the public about drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
The check was conducted and carried out at Katju Hospital and Rang Mahal Chauraha auto rickshaw stand in the TT Nagar area.
During the check, all auto rickshaws were stopped, and drivers were tested using a breathalyzer. Five drivers were found to be under the influence of alcohol and were charged under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act. These drivers' auto rickshaws were seized, and they were advised not to drive under the influence in the future. The public had raised concerns about the safety risks posed by intoxicated drivers, especially affecting women, children, and the elderly.
Among the drivers who were found under the influence of alcohol were Mujeeb Khan (MP-04-ZP-2955), with permanent warrants issued against him from TT Nagar and Jahangirabad Police Stations, Vikram Maran (MP-04-RB-3856), Bhupendra Vishwakarma (MP-04-RA-7759), Vikash Vishwakarma (MP-04-RA-8078) and Bhura Pal alias Radheshyam (MP-04-RB-1096).
The police emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules to avoid accidents and to ensure the safety of passengers and pedestrians.
