A fire broke out in a coach of the Bikaner-Bilaspur Superfast Express (Train No. 20846) on Sunday evening while it was passing between Tarana and Tajpur stations in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain district. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and the blaze was brought under control swiftly.
According to railway officials, the fire erupted in the train’s power car around 5 PM while it was crossing the bridge over the Kali Sindh River. The train, carrying passengers from Bikaner to Bilaspur, was immediately halted at Tarana station as a safety precaution.
Khemraj Meena, Public Relations Officer of the Ratlam Division of Western Railway, said that a replacement power coach was dispatched from Ujjain following the incident. The train resumed its onward journey toward Bhopal at around 6:30 PM after the situation was brought under control. No injuries were reported, and all passengers were reported safe. Railway officials reached the site promptly and have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire.
