In a heart-wrenching incident, a father and his daughter lost their lives on the spot while his teenage son sustained serious injuries in a tragic road accident at Jemco under the Telco police station area in the early hours of Wednesday. The accident occurred when the Scooty they were riding on was hit by a speeding heavy vehicle near a roundabout at Jemco.
The deceased were identified as 38-year-old Krishna Kumar Sharma and his 19-year-old daughter Anjali Kumari, both residents of Janata Path in Barigora locality of Parsudih. Krishna Kumar, an employee at a cement plant located in Jojobera, was on his way to drop his daughter at the Tatanagar railway station when the fatal accident occurred. Tragically, Anjali was scheduled to travel to Ranchi for a competitive exam on Wednesday but missed her train and was returning home with her father and younger brother when the mishap took place.
According to sources, Krishna Kumar had left home early in the morning with his daughter Anjali and his 17-year-old son Vicky Kumar, who had accompanied them. Anjali was supposed to board the Kriyayog Express from Tatanagar station for Ranchi. However, due to a delay in reaching the station, she missed the train. Subsequently, the trio began their journey back home on the Scooty.
The accident occurred near the roundabout at Jemco when a heavy vehicle, suspected to be a speeding truck, hit their two-wheeler from behind, leading to a catastrophic collision. The impact was so severe that Krishna Kumar and Anjali died on the spot. Vicky Kumar, who is a student of Class IX, sustained multiple injuries in his legs and was left in a critical state at the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver of the heavy vehicle fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the victims lying on the road. A patrolling team of the local police arrived at the spot and rushed all three to the MGM Medical College Hospital. However, upon arrival, the on-duty doctor declared Krishna Kumar and Anjali as ‘brought dead.’
Vicky Kumar was admitted to the hospital for emergency treatment as he had suffered severe injuries in his legs. According to hospital sources, his condition is stable but he remains under close observation.
