Former MLA, Biranchi Narayan, met Union Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Minister of State for Steel, B.R. Srinivasan Verma, to discuss the development of Bokaro Steel Plant and the city. He submitted a nine-point memorandum addressing key issues.
Narayan highlighted that the plant’s production capacity, originally aimed at 10 million tons, is currently only 4.5 million tons. He urged modernization and expansion, quick resolution of long-pending issues, and the payment of 38-month salary arrears to SAIL employees.
The demands included improving civic amenities, reopening closed health centers as ESIC hospitals, and utilizing unused school buildings for higher and technical education. He also proposed upgrading Bokaro General Hospital to a super-specialty center, beautifying the city park, and establishing a modern waste management plant to curb pollution.
Local BJP leaders supported Narayan during the meeting, underscoring the urgency of these demands for Bokaro’s growth.
