With a day to go for polls, APP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said BJP goons are openly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in Delhi, and instead of taking action against them, the Delhi Police and the Election Commission (EC) are targeting those who file complaints.
Reacting strongly to these incidents, Kejriwal in a social media post said a police case was filed against the Chief Minister of Delhi for lodging a complaint against open hooliganism.
"So now, this is the official stance of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission. Their 'job' is to act as hooligans against the Aam Aadmi Party, protect BJP's hooliganism, and facilitate the distribution of alcohol, money, and goods. If anyone tries to stop them from doing this 'job,' they will be booked for obstructing police and Election Commission operations," Kejriwal wrote. AAP claimed on Monday night, BJP members violated the Model Code of Conduct in the constituencies of Kalkaji, Jangpura, and Rajinder Nagar. Instead of taking action against BJP workers, the police brutally assaulted two youths who were filming the violations in Kalkaji. Moreover, when a complaint was filed, the police registered an FIR against the Chief Minister of Delhi. This revelation was made on Tuesday by senior leader Manish Sisodia, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, and Durgesh Pathak.
Senior leader Manish Sisodia said the Election Commission of India was once widely respected across the country. "It was once led by figures like TN Seshan, whose name became synonymous with free and fair elections. Today, under Rajiv Kumar's leadership, the Election Commission appears to have handed over the responsibility of contesting elections to the BJP.
"In Delhi, the election is not being fought by the BJP but rather by the Election Commission and the Delhi Police in partnership with the BJP. Numerous reports from across Delhi and videos circulating on social media clearly show BJP goons engaging in open hooliganism for the past three to four days. Meanwhile, the police are harassing complainants and even journalists. However, no action is being taken against those violating the code of conduct and engaging in hooliganism. This has been happening not just now but since before the election was announced," he said
Sisodia warned that if the BJP wins the elections, the government will not be run democratically but by mafia groups. "People of Delhi are receiving benefits such as quality education, free electricity and water, free bus travel, and 24-hour facilities. If BJP wins, all these schemes will be destroyed by the mafia. The future of Delhi can be seen in the videos showing BJP candidates and their goons assaulting women in Jangpura."
