Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday suspended a sanitation inspector after finding a lack of desilting of a drain in the Pitampura area of northwest Delhi.
During an inspection, the Chief Minister found serious lapses in sanitation in Pitampura Block. It was found that proper de-silting and cleaning of drains less than four feet deep had not been carried out.
“Taking serious note of this negligence, the Sanitary Inspector responsible for the Municipal ward no-57, Pitampura Block was found to have failed in his duty to ensure proper sanitation. His inability to supervise the assigned area and uphold cleanliness standards was deemed gross misconduct and a dereliction of duty,” the CMO said in a statement.
“In light of this, the Sanitary Inspector, DEMS, Keshav Puram Zone(MCD) , has been placed under suspension. In addition, SI and ASI from Ward 55 from DEMS, Keshav Puram and RSK from ward number 57 of Pitampura responsible for sanitation lapses have been relieved of their duties and transferred on administrative grounds and directed to report for further posting,” it said.
