Amid ongoing complaints from parents, Bokaro Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav has directed District Education Officer (DEO) Jagarnath Lohra to take necessary action. In response, the DEO has asked all CBSE/ICSE school principals to clarify their fee policies and other concerns by April 5, 2025.
The notice highlights key grievances, including schools compelling parents to buy books from specific shops, multiple books for the same syllabus, and frequent syllabus changes causing unnecessary expenses. Schools are also accused of imposing arbitrary fees and frequently changing uniforms, forcing purchases from designated shops.
To address these issues, the DEO has instructed schools to submit a report on approved books, uniforms, and fees via their School Management Committees (SMCs). This will be reviewed by a District-Level Committee chaired by the Deputy Commissioner.
Schools failing to comply by April 5 will face financial penalties under the Jharkhand Education Tribunal (Amendment) Act, 2027, Section 7(A)(1)(2)(3). The administration has emphasized strict action to prevent financial exploitation of parents.
