Congress spokesperson and former State Women’s Commission member Sangeeta Sharma has raised serious allegations of corruption and technical flaws in the recently inaugurated Ambedkar Setu and GG Bridge in Bhopal. She questioned whether these flyovers were built for public convenience or to add to the city’s woes.
Highlighting the difficulties faced by commuters, Sharma pointed out that the Ambedkar Bridge lacks proper connectivity for people descending from the Ganesh Mandir side, offering no direct route to E-3 or 10 Number Market. She remarked that the residents of E-3 have only received noise pollution and dust from the bridge, rather than any real benefit. Additionally, she noted that anyone traveling to Kamalapati Railway Station from the bridge has to take a long detour via Savarkar Setu, or risk traveling on the wrong side to reach their destination.
Sharma questioned the role of engineers, contractors, and ministers responsible for the project, asking what kind of inspections were conducted before its inauguration. She expressed doubts over whether the flyover was built to serve the public or to inconvenience them further.
Taking a dig at the state government, Sharma questioned the intent behind the inauguration, stating that the flyover, inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, started deteriorating within a week. She claimed that this is not just a technical failure but a glaring example of organized corruption.
She further challenged the Chief Minister, asking, “Was the inauguration merely a formality, or does the government hold any responsibility towards the people?” Sharma alleged that the misuse of public funds during the flyover’s construction has raised serious concerns about its quality and durability.
Sharma demanded legal action against officials and contractors involved in the project, asserting that corruption has reached such levels that even the BJP itself would be ashamed.
