CM convenes meeting on Law and order ahead of festivals

Chief Minister Hemant Soren today conducted a high-level review of the maintenance of law and order in the state in view of the upcoming festivals in the Jharkhand Ministry. On the occasion, the CM gave necessary guidelines to senior police officers.

Soren directed the police officers to ensure maintenance of better law and order in the state at all costs in view of festivals like Holi, Sarhul, Eid, Ramnavami etc. Festivals should be celebrated with mutual love and harmony in a crime-free environment. He said that the police should remain on alert mode with full vigilance so that no minor unpleasant incident, communal tension or dispute situation arises in any area of the state. He said that special vigilance should be exercised in those areas where there is a possibility of communal tension or dispute.

The CM directed the police officers to establish coordination by holding regular meetings with the peace committee in the identified sensitive areas. Deploy police force at crowded places, religious places and ensure strict action by keeping a close watch on mischievous elements. He directed to keep a close watch on social media during festivals. Ensure strict action against those who spread rumours. In the meeting, the Director General of Police of the state, Anurag Gupta, gave updated information about the work being done regarding crime control before the Chief Minister.

Important instructions given by Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren in view of the upcoming festivals (Holi, Eid, Ram Navami, Sarhul):-

1. Necessary preventive action should be ensured in view of the upcoming festivals (Holi, Eid, Ram Navami, Sarhul).

2. Ensure availability and deputation of magistrates/forces for maintaining law and order.

3. Security measures around religious places and installation of CCTV and electronic surveillance should be taken.

4. Ensure physical verification of procession routes.

5. Ensure deputation of magistrates/forces at sensitive places and other sensitive places falling on the procession routes and arrangements for aerial surveillance by videography/drones.

6. Ensure deputation of magistrates/forces and QRTS etc. along with the procession.

7. Continuous lighting/public address system should be arranged on the procession routes.

8. Ensure joint control room and emergency plan.

9. A meeting of the peace committee should be held by the district level police station.

10. Verification of availability of anti-riot security equipment, anti-riot vehicles, water cannons and anti-riot control drills should be arranged in the districts.

14. Raids should be conducted against illegal drugs/alcohol.

15. Necessary action should be taken to stop broadcasting of provocative songs through DJ/other sound systems.

16. Arrangements should be made for food/accommodation/water etc. for the security forces.

17. Emergency medical facilities should be available during festivals.

Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Principal Secretary Home Department Vandana Dadel, DGP Anurag Gupta, Inspector General of Police Special Branch Prabhat Kumar, Inspector General of Police Operations A.V. Homkar, Inspector General of Police Crime Investigation Department Aseem Vikrant Minj, Inspector General of Police Headquarters Manoj Kaushik and other senior police officers were present in the meeting.
