The state capital is fully prepared to celebrate the festival of colours in a safe, eco-friendly and organised manner. The administration, police, health department and municipal corporation have made extensive arrangements to ensure cleanliness, security and communal harmony during the festivities.
With an emphasis on sustainability, authorities are promoting Gokashta (cow dung wood) for Holika Dahan and encouraging the use of organic colours to minimise environmental harm.
After the conclusion of Bhadra Kaal at 10:47 PM, over 1,500 locations across the city witnessed Holika Dahan (bonfire lighting). The administration encouraged the use of Gokashta this year to promote environmental conservation and cattle welfare.
Amid preparations, Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan inspected key areas such as Link Road, Railway Station, Roshanpura and Jahangirabad, issuing directives for prompt post-festival cleanliness. Priority has been given to immediate waste disposal, filling potholes and removing illegal posters and banners.
To prevent untoward incidents, the police have intensified patrolling along procession routes such as Dayanand Chowk and Sant Nagar. Religious leaders have urged restraint, discouraging the use of chemical colours and alcohol. Community leaders have emphasised a "traditional yet cautious" celebration to uphold Bhopal’s syncretic traditions. Chief Medical Officer Dr Prabhakar Tiwari has warned of the risks associated with chemical colours, such as skin irritation and breathing difficulties. Emergency teams have been deployed at hospitals, while 108 ambulances will be stationed at key locations. Citizens have been advised to apply moisturiser, wear full-sleeved clothing and seek medical help immediately if they experience any health issues.
