Marking the beginning of the Indian New Year, Vikram Samvat 2082, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday offerred Arghya to the rising Sun in Ujjain. He performed the traditional worship of the Vikram flag and the sacred Gudi at the Dutt Akhada Ghat. Extending his heartfelt greetings to the people of the state and the country, Dr. Yadav wished for prosperity and happiness for all.
Highlighting the significance of the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that Indian festivals and celebrations are determined by auspicious dates based on astronomical calculations. Gudhi Padwa, also known as Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, is considered the first auspicious date of the year, which is celebrated under various names, such as Chaiti Chand, Varsh Pratipada, and Gudhi Padwa, across different regions. He described this as a unique tradition of India's ancient Sanatan culture, bringing joy, prosperity, and enthusiasm everywhere. The Gudi, or sacred flag, placed in homes on this occasion symbolizes the purity of the soul.
Dr. Yadav expressed his prayers for the new Vikram Samvat to bring prosperity, happiness, and success into everyone’s lives.
After the religious rituals, the Chief Minister took a boat ride on the sacred Kshipra River to review arrangements. He then visited temples and interacted with saints, devotees, and spiritual leaders. He also received the blessings of Peethadhishwar Sant Shri Sundarpuri Maharaj of Dutt Akhada and participated in a spiritual discourse.
Welcoming Dr. Yadav with a ceremonial shawl, Sant Shri Sundarpuri Maharaj emphasized that the Hindu New Year aligns with nature’s renewal, as fresh buds sprout and the environment radiates new energy and vitality. He praised the efforts taken to preserve and enhance the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Ujjain.
The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including MLA Anil Jain Kaluheda, Municipal Corporation Speaker Smt. Kalavati Yadav, District BJP President Shri Sanjay Agarwal, along with numerous saints, public representatives, and devoted followers of Hindu culture.
