Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that today is a significant day for the state's Cheetah Project and wildlife conservation efforts. A female cheetah named "Gamini," brought from South Africa, along with her four cubs, is being released from an enclosure into the open habitat of Kuno National Park in Sheopur.
Yadav emphasized that from the perspective of biodiversity, the reintroduction of cheetahs from South Africa to Indian soil is not just an important project for the country but also for the entire Asian continent. The selection of Kuno (Sheopur) for this intercontinental project is a matter of pride for the state. The dedication and relentless efforts of the state’s Forest Department have made the successful implementation of this ambitious project possible.
The Chief Minister noted that the cheetah population in the region is steadily increasing, which will promote tourism activities, generate employment opportunities, and strengthen the overall economy of the Chambal region. He expressed these views in a message released to the media.
