Chief Election Officer of India Gyanesh Kumar today said that he had got an opportunity to meet and greet everyone on this great land of Jharkhand. “I interacted with the volunteers, during which I realized that the roots of democracy are very strong in Jharkhand. Every citizen above 18 years of age should become a voter. Election Commission has always stood with voters, is standing and will always stand with them,” he said.
Kumar was addressing media representatives after the Experience Share programme with volunteers in the auditorium of CCL Guest House in Ramgarh today.
The CEC said that a booth level officer is appointed at every polling station and every political party has the right to nominate a booth level agent at every booth. Every citizen can avail all facilities as a voter at his booth. If a person has any objection to the decision of the Electoral Registration Officer, he can appeal to the District Election Officer/DEO, and an appeal can be filed against the decision of the District Election Officer/DEO before the Chief Election Officer. There is no appeal pending before any District Election Officer/DEO or CEO office in Jharkhand, which means that the voter list in Jharkhand is close to 100 per cent satisfaction of voters and all others, for this the election team of Jharkhand deserves appreciation.
