In a significant breakthrough in its ongoing anti-drug operations, the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Neemuch, intercepted a Tata trailer near the Hanging Bridge on Kota Bypass Road, Rajasthan, and seized 173 packets of ganja weighing 905.78 kilograms on March 20, 2025.
Acting on specific intelligence that a Tata trailer with a Rajasthan registration number would be transporting a large quantity of ganja from Odisha to Jodhpur, a special team of CBN officers was dispatched on March 19, 2025. The officers maintained strict surveillance along the suspected route. Upon identifying the vehicle near the Hanging Bridge, the team signaled the trailer to stop. However, the driver attempted to flee by accelerating the vehicle.
In a high-speed chase, CBN officers fired at the trailer, successfully bringing it to a halt. During the interception, the driver and co-driver tried to escape but were apprehended by the alert officers. For security reasons, the trailer was taken to the CBN office, where a detailed search revealed 173 packets of ganja hidden in a specially built cavity inside the trailer.
Following the completion of legal formalities, the contraband and the trailer truck were seized, and both individuals were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
In a separate operation on the same day, CBN officers, acting on specific intelligence, intercepted an Eicher truck at MIT Four-Way, Tehsil and District Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. Upon a thorough search, 117 plastic polythene bags containing 117.26 kilograms of poppy straw were discovered concealed in specially built cavities inside the vehicle.
One individual was arrested, and the truck along with the recovered poppy straw was seized under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.
