Ahead of the Budget Session, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday said that as Finance Minister, he will present the state budget for the financial year 2025-26 on March 17.
Talking to Reporters after the all-party meeting and the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) held at the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here, he stated that he visited various districts across the state to hold discussions with industrial associations, chartered accountants, the textile industry, progressive farmers, FPOs, agricultural scientists, youth, Namo Drone Didi, Women’s Self-Help Groups, and invited their suggestions. Additionally, he gathered input from the state’s Ministers, MPs, and MLAs during a two-day consultation held in Panchkula on March 3 and 4.
He assured that the best suggestions will be incorporated into the upcoming budget. The Chief Minister emphasized that the goal of the pre-budget consultations is to create a budget that reflects the expectations of the state’s 2.80 crore population by integrating diverse viewpoints from various sections of society. The budget, he added, will focus on advancing Haryana’s development at three times its current pace.
In reply to a question about the new building for the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Saini stated that the matter has been discussed with the members during the all-party meeting and due to the proposed delimitation in the state, the number of seats will increase, making the current building insufficient. As a result, a new building will be required.
Asked about the Municipal Elections in Haryana, he confidently remarked that a one-sided lotus will bloom on March 12.
In response to another question, he said that a provision will be made in the upcoming budget to provide Rs 2,100 to women. He assured that the promises made in the Sankalp Patra will be fulfilled one by one over the next five years. The Chief Minister highlighted that the present government has made significant progress in this direction, fulfilling 18 key resolutions that have benefited the people of the state. He further mentioned that, in this ongoing effort, 10 more resolutions will be completed soon.
AAP govt should give relief to Punjab farmers purchase their crops at MSP
Saini also asked the AAP government in Punjab to come forward and procure the produce of farmers at minimum support price (MSP) as was being done in his state. "In Haryana, we are procuring all crops of farmers at MSP and the state government is taking every such step which empowers farmers," Saini said. He also said the AAP government in Punjab should hold a dialogue with the agitating farmers and find solutions to their problems.
Saini was asked about the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), a conglomerate of more than 30 farmer bodies, giving a call for a sit-in in Chandigarh on March 5 in support of various demands including the purchase of six crops at MSP by the Punjab government. "I am a farmer's son, I know the pain of farmers, how a farmer works in the fields and what difficulties he faces. In Haryana, we take care of our farmers. Even when there is a natural calamity, we stand behind our farmers," Saini said.
"Earlier, we were procuring 14 crops at MSP in Haryana. Now, we are procuring all crops at MSP. Earlier too, I had suggested to the Punjab CM that he should talk to farmers and assure them and tell them that they will purchase crops at MSP. Why are they not procuring? They should procure. They should give relief to farmers. Farmers meet our foodgrain needs.
