Punjab Governor extends Eid-ul-Fitr greetings

Chandigarh: Punjab Governor and Union Territory-Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria on Sunday greeted the people of Punjab and Chandigarh on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. Kataria, in his message, conveyed his heartiest greetings and best wishes on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. “The festival marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramzan and brings to the fore the noble instincts in people. I hope that the festival evokes feelings of brotherhood, compassion and sharing in all and strengthens the pluralistic bonds of our composite society,” said the Governor, urging the people to practice the qualities of kindness, compassion, benevolence, generosity and tolerance towards our fellow citizens by recalling the tenets of Islam which lay emphasis on peace, purity and submission and obedience to the will of God.

 

No shortage of money for development works in any village: Hry CM

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said that the government is getting development work done in Kaulapur village with a budget of Rs 2.83 crore. The Chief Minister sent Rs 21 lakh to the Panchayat’s account on the spot for the village’s development. Along with this, Saini assured to fulfill all demands put forth by the village Sarpanch. There will be no shortage of money for development works, he said, while during his thanksgiving tour in Kaulapur village.

 

Restricted holiday in Haryana on March 31

Chandigarh: Haryana Government on Sunday declared a restricted holiday under Schedule-II instead of a gazetted holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr on March 31, as it is the closing day of the Financial Year 2024-2025. A notification to this effect, issued by the Haryana Government, stated that in case an employee has already exhausted his or her restricted holidays, an additional restricted holiday shall be allowed. Further, in case some private offices or institutions follow the list of gazetted holidays meant for public offices, all such offices or institutions shall observe March 31, 2025 as a holiday.

 

Dhaliwal Inaugurates Sewerage Project in Sakianwali village

Amritsar: Punjab Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has inaugurated a sewerage project in Sakianwali village, marking a significant milestone in the development of Ajnala Halqa. This achievement is a testament to Dhaliwal's efforts, as the project had been stalled by previous governments. Sakianwali village had long struggled with waterlogging, which often entered homes, said Dhaliwal, expressing his satisfaction in fulfilling his election promise while addressing the issue.

 

Dr Sharma Showcases Advancements in Pediatric Corneal Transplants

Chandigarh: Renowned corneal surgeon Dr Ashok Sharma, Director of Dr Ashok Sharma’s Cornea Centre, Chandigarh, presented groundbreaking work on pediatric corneal transplants at the World Cornea Congress in Washington, DC, held from March 20 to 22. With over 30 years of experience, Dr Sharma shared insights from 225 pediatric corneal transplants, highlighting the challenges and success of performing transplants in neonates and infants. His work has restored vision to countless blind children, including a five-month-old girl, who, after undergoing corneal transplants in both eyes, now leads a normal life at age eight.

 

Water conservation necessary for future generation: Minister

Yamunanagar: Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana on Sunday called upon the people of the state to conserve water. He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal on water conservation after listening to the 120th episode of Prime Minister Modi's ‘Mann Ki Baat’ in Yamunanagar district. He said that water is a precious asset for our life, and collective efforts are necessary for its conservation.

 

Punjab, California Experts Collaborate to Tackle Groundwater Depletion

Chandigarh: In a step toward addressing deepening subsoil water crisis, experts from Punjab and California State University, Fresno, on Sunday held high-level discussions on water recharge strategies. The delegation, led by Dr Sharon Elizabeth Benes and Dr Gurreet Singh Brar, engaged with Punjab State Farmers’ and Farm Workers’ Commission (PSFC) to develop sustainable solutions for water conservation. PSFC chairman Dr Sukhpal Singh presented Punjab’s Agriculture Policy, while former Director of Agriculture, Rajesh Vashisht, highlighted alarming data on groundwater decline and proposed science-backed recharge techniques. 

 

Govt works with spirit of public welfare: Minister Rao

Rewari: Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao on Sunday said that if a government works with the spirit of public welfare, it can come to power even for the third consecutive time, and this has been proved by the current state government formed under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Rao, addressing the Shaheed Parivar Samman Samaroh organized by Jatusana Panchayat Samiti in Rewari, said that the people of south Haryana have always supported her family and due to that she has got the opportunity to serve her area. While honouring the members of martyrs’ families, the Health Minister said, “Many brave warriors of Kosli constituency sacrificed their lives to protect India. We will always be proud of them.”

 

Rs 62L development works inaugurated in Palwal

Chandigarh: Haryana’s Minister of State for Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, Sports and Law Gaurav Gautam on Sunday said that under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the Central and State Governments are constantly making efforts to promote youth in the field of sports. The government is trying to provide all the necessary basic facilities to the players of the state so that they can perform better in sports and bring glory to the country and state, he said, addressing a function after inaugurating a Baraat Ghar, Tin Shed, Community Bhawan and other development works at a cost of Rs 62 lakh.

 

Centre, State Govt doing all-round development works: Union Minister

Chandigarh: Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar on Sunday said that all-round development works are being done in the country and state by the Central and State Governments. In the coming time, the blueprint of the development of Palwal will be prepared and the district will develop at a faster pace, said Gurjar, addressing a public meeting on Sunday after inaugurating various development works related to the beautification of Palwal city.

Chandigarh: Haryana Cooperatives, Prisons, Heritage and Tourism Minister Arvind Sharma reached booth number 136 in Juan village of Gohana Assembly and listened to the 120th edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat programme with villagers. Sharma, wishing the villagers a ‘Happy Indian New Year’, said that every ‘Mann Ki Baat programme’ brings new thinking and his words are heart touching. The youth and countrymen get to learn something new from the programme which proves to be inspirational in moving forward in life.
