Haryana Govt declares Feb 5, Delhi polling day, as paid holiday

Chandigarh: Haryana Government has declared February 5, 2025, (Wednesday) — the day of polling for the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of NCT of Delhi — as a paid holiday or special casual leave (paid) in all Haryana Government offices, educational and other institutes, and boards, and corporations. This provision, under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (amended in 1996), applies to employees who are registered voters of NCT of Delhi, allowing them to cast their vote in the General Election. A notification has been issued by the Chief Secretary Office in this regard. Employees of factories, shops and private establishments in Haryana, who are registered voters of NCT of Delhi, are also entitled to take leave (paid) for the same purpose.

 

Chandigarh Mayor inaugurates Jan Aushadhi Kendra

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla on Sunday inaugurated a new Jan Aushadhi Kendra at Attawa village on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami. She said: “Under the Jan Aushadhi Scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, nearly 10,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been established across the country. These centers provide local people with medicines at a discount of 50 to 90 percent. With the opening of these centers in various locations within Chandigarh, the citizens of Chandigarh are directly benefiting. Through youth-run startups, not only are people earning a livelihood by opening Jan Aushadhi Kendras, but they are also providing employment opportunities to others.

 

Punjab Govt Releases Rs 55.45-cr for SC Students under PMS

Chandigarh: Punjab Government has released Rs 55.45 crore as the state’s share for the financial year 2024-25 under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste (SC) students — benefitting 86,583 students from the sanctioned budget. Sharing details, Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Sunday said that the remaining eligible students will receive their scholarships soon. She added that the release of these amount will help improve the living standards of SC students. The financial assistance is directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring transparency and efficiency, she said.

 

Union Budget a boon for all sections: Hry Minister Gangwa

Chandigarh: Haryana Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa on Sunday praised the Union Budget for the financial year 2025-26, presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman a day before. The budget outlined several visionary and inclusive policies that are crucial not just for national development but also for the progress of Haryana and every other state. He described the budget as development-oriented and well-balanced. He said that this budget is a significant step towards realizing the vision of a self-reliant India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that it is a highly beneficial and welfare-focused budget, catering to the well-being of all sections of society -farmers, youth, women, employees, businessmen, and industrialists.

 

Union Budget priorities poor, youth, farmers & women empowerment: Minister

Chandigarh: Haryana Development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Lal Panwar on Sunday described the Union Budget for the financial year 2025-26 presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, as highly beneficial for all sections of society. He emphasized that the budget prioritizes the poor, youth, farmers, and women. Additionally, he highlighted the significant relief for salaried middle class, as those earning up to Rs 12 lakh would be exempted from income tax. Panwar said that the Union Budget, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is presented for the third consecutive term focusing on public welfare, accelerating development, and enhancing the financial stability of the middle class.

 

Four held with weapons for robbing passers-by in Gurugram

Gurugram: A crime branch team of Gurugram police has arrested four accused for allegedly trying to commit robbery at gunpoint with illegal weapons here, police said on Sunday.  With the arrest of these criminals, police also claimed on Sunday to have solved 16 cases of theft and Arms Act which the accused had committed in Gurugram. According to the police, Crime Branch Sector-43 received information through reliable sources regarding four culprits with weapons trying to rob passers-by on the Ghata-Faridabad Road. The police team acted promptly on the information and formed a special police team and reached the spot, where they arrested all the four accused with weapons.
