The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) intensified its revenue collection drive on Thursday by initiating attachment proceedings against eight properties, including marriage gardens and hotels, while three defaulters cleared their dues during the operation. Officials are pushing to meet the Rs 600 crore tax revenue target before March 31.
Officials targeted defaulters owing property tax, water charges, and solid waste management fees. Seized properties included Hills View Marriage Garden near Kaliyasot Dam, Jyoti Shopping Centre shops in MP Nagar Zone 1, Hotel Hidden Paradise in Suraj Nagar, and others. Three defaulters, including Anand Kumar Gupta, paid their outstanding amounts via NEFT during the drive, allowing their properties to remain operational.
The crackdown followed orders from Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan to enforce strict action against defaulters. Led by zonal officers, the BMC team sealed properties with outstanding dues ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 14 lakh.
