The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday said it organised health check-up camps for its sanitation workers at the Adampur Chhawni Landfill site in the state capital.
The camps, being organised in collaboration with the health department of the district administration, will continue until the first week of March.
The initiative aims to provide general health examinations, eye tests, blood sugar screenings, malaria tests, and TB screenings, along with free medicines. Around 80 employees were examined during the first camp.
The camps will be held periodically to ensure employees' health and well-being. The next camps are scheduled for 29 and 30 January at the Danapani Garbage Transfer Station.
The camps also offer screenings for non-communicable diseases, ABHA ID and Ayushman card creation, and free glasses through a mobile health unit.
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Prabhakar Tiwari attributed the initiative to the district administration's efforts to improve health services and its efforts to reach out to all sections of society. He said the vital role of sanitation workers in maintaining the city's cleanliness and underscored the responsibility of providing them with proper healthcare.
The camps will be held at various locations across the city.
