BCCL distributes motorized e-tricycles to 80 Divyangjans

Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Bharat Coking Coal Limited organized a special program on the theme of social empowerment and justice on April 11, 2025, in which battery-operated motorized e-tricycles were distributed to 80 Divyangjans of Dhanbad area.

This program organized at Coal Nagar, Community Hall was presided over by Chairman-cum-Managing Director Samiran Dutta. Along with him, Director (Human Resources) Murali Krishna Ramaiya, CMS Dr. Poonam Dubey and CSS Central Hospital Dr. Vandana Thakur were the guests on the dais. In this program organized under the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of the institute, 12 motorized e-tricycles were provided to the Divyangjan beneficiaries in the community hall by the CMD and senior officials on the dais. The remaining 68 e-tricycles were distributed at BCCL Central Hospital, Dhanbad. Where in the presence of officers, officials, doctors, regional medical officers of CHD and CSR department, Dr. Dubey, Dr. Thakur, General Manager Saha and Kumar distributed the tricycles to the beneficiaries.

In his address, Dutta said that social concerns and social activities are an essential part of any business. "No business can be considered successful without connecting with the society and discharging social responsibilities. BCCL is fully aware of its social responsibilities and for this, various works related to social concerns are being done along with purposeful mining. He congratulated the CSR department for the successful implementation of the organized program and encouraged them to do better work in future. He expressed his happiness on distribution of tricycles to the beneficiaries by BCCL and urged the beneficiaries to drive the motorized tricycle carefully and take care of the speed," he said.

Director, Human Resources expressed happiness on the occasion and said that BCCL has achieved the target of 117 percent under CSR activities in the financial year 2024-25, which is really remarkable. He hoped for similar performance in the CSR sector in the current financial year as well. Shri Ramaiya also urged the beneficiaries to drive motorized vehicles carefully.

After distribution of 12 tricycles by the CMD and Director in the community hall, the remaining 68 tricycles were distributed at CHD. Where vehicles were distributed to the beneficiaries in the function organized.

It is known that the distributed tricycles were purchased by BCCL through Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, whose per unit cost is about Rs 36,000. All these e-tricycles equipped with modern technology are battery operated. Which has the facility of moving forward and backward, horn, and the capacity to cover a distance of about 40 kilometers on a single full charge. The beneficiaries were selected on the basis of disability certificate certified by the Civil Surgeon of Dhanbad, so that it can be ensured that no needy beneficiary is deprived of this scheme.

All the General Managers, HODs of different departments, officers of CSR department, officials, workers and a large number of family members of the beneficiaries were also present in both the programs. The stage management and vote of thanks was done by Manager CSR, Abhijit Mitra.
