Recently, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal successfully treated a 32-year-old patient from Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, with complex heart disease through minimal invasive cardiac surgery.
The patient came to AIIMS Bhopal with complaints of chest pain and difficulty in breathing. After routine tests, doctors found a severe narrowing in one of his heart valves (Aortic Stenosis).
The patient was admitted to the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) ward for surgical management. The surgical team of the Cardiothoracic department performed the operation using the latest Heart Port technique.
In the Heart Port method, complex heart surgeries are performed through a small incision in the chest, without cutting the sternum bones. This leads to a quicker recovery. This surgery is also cosmetically significant as it leaves no visible chest wound. At AIIMS Bhopal, this treatment is being provided under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
Emphasizing the importance of this achievement, AIIMS Bhopal ED Prof. Ajai Singh stated, "This successful surgery reflects AIIMS Bhopal's commitment to providing world-class healthcare services to the people of Madhya Pradesh.
Through advanced medical procedures under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, we ensure that even the most complex treatments are accessible and affordable for those in need." This surgery was performed under the leadership of Dr. Yogesh Nivariya.
The surgical team included Dr. M. Kishan, Dr. Surendra Singh Yadav, Dr. Rahul Sharma, Dr. Vikram Watti, and Dr. Aditya Sirohi. Dr. Surendra Singh Yadav has a keen interest in this advanced technique and has been trained at various reputed institutions. Dr. Nagbhushan from the anesthesia team also played a key role in making the surgery successful.
