The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has announced its probable candidates for the upcoming Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union (JNUSU) elections. The list of probable candidates includes Thite Shambhavi Pramod, Anuj Damara, Kunal Rai, Vikas Patel, Rajeshwar Kant Dubey, Shikha Swaraj, Nittu Goutham, Arun Srivastava and Akash Kumar Ravani. All probable candidates from the ABVP have filed their nomination papers on Tuesday. After scrutiny of the nominations four final names will be decided for the JNUSU Central Panel posts- President, Vice-President, General Secretary and Joint Secretary. ABVP activists have begun intensive hostel-to-hostel and class-to-class campaigns in groups reaching out to students and sharing the positive, constructive and movement based work done by the organisation over the past six years.
Alongside the Central Panel, elections will also be held for 42 councilor posts representing 16 schools and a special combined centre in the university. Today was the last day to file the nominations while tomorrow will be the deadline for withdrawal of nominations.
Voting for the JNUSU will takes place on April 25. To make the election campaign impactful and focused on outreach, the ABVP has launched its pre-campaign during which activitsts are visiting all hostels and schools in JNU to initiate dialogue and present the organisation's work.
ABVP'S Central Election Coordinator for JNUSU elections, Arjun Anand stated, "The ABVP is fully prepared for the JNUSU elections. We are committed to promote a responsible leadership by selecting dedicated, aware and active student leaders. Based out of suggestions and conversations with the students the ABVP will soon release a dedicated manifesto.
