The Jamshedpur chapter of the Association of British Scholars (ABS) hosted a thought-provoking and lively exhibition debate on the theme "Work-Life Balance is a Myth" at Beldih Club, drawing a large and enthusiastic audience.
A stellar lineup of speakers—Dr. Basudhara Roy, Dr. Shantanu Chakraborty, Aparna Singh, Dr. Sujata Mitra, Mrinal Sawa, Prof. Purohit, Antara Bose, and Sharat Paul Mechery—captivated the audience with their powerful arguments and eloquent presentation. The debate, moderated by Prof. Santanu Gupta of XLRI, was a true battle of wits and words, leaving the audience awestruck by the speakers' command over the subject and their sharp debating skills.
The event witnessed participation from various sections of society, including a notable presence of school students, for whom the session served as a masterclass in public speaking and critical thinking. The primary objective of the event was to expose young adults to the art and nuances of debating, thereby nurturing future thought leaders.
President Jagan Santra, Secretary Ashu Tiwary, and Executive Committee members Jayanti Sheshadri, Nandini Shukla, Sharat Chandran, Priti Sinha, and B.S. Banati played key roles in organizing the successful event.
As a highlight of the evening, the Association also took the opportunity to felicitate two of its founding members—Dr. S.M. Mehra and Dr. J.L. Ajmani—for their longstanding contributions to the organization.
The Association of British Scholars continues to foster Indo-UK relations through its wide range of networking, intellectual, and cultural activities, tapping into the collective expertise and experience of its diverse membership. This debate was a shining example of its commitment to enriching minds and strengthening community engagement.
