The Bhopal Crime Branch arrested two drug peddlers involved in Cannabis smuggling and seized 8 kg 350 grams of illegal drugs valued at approximately ?2 lakh. The operation was conducted in the Kohefiza police station area following a tip-off.
The accused were identified as Sachin Kuchbandiya (20) and Nikhil Jaiswal (22). Both were apprehended behind the VIP Guest House in Kohefiza while carrying backpacks filled with cannabis. Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to owning the narcotics, leading to their arrest.
A case has been registered against them under Sections 8 and 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.
According to the police, Sachin Kuchbandiya hails from Surkhi village in Sagar district and currently resides near Bijli Ghar Slum in Sukhi Sewaniya, Bhopal. He has a prior criminal record, with a case registered against him in 2022 under Sections 107, 116, and 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) at Gautam Nagar police station.
Nikhil Jaiswal, a resident of Chhola Mandir in Bhopal, works as a water seller on trains. Police are investigating whether he has any previous criminal history.
The Crime Branch continues to intensify its crackdown on drug trafficking in the city to curb the illegal drug trade and ensure public safety.
