UT Chandigarh Police on Sunday arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in murder of Aaditya Thakur, student of UIET, Punjab University Chandigarh. Thakur was murdered by unknown assailants in a musical concert of Haryanvi Singer Maasum Sharma on March 28 night. The accused have been identified as Lavish, resident of Manimajra (student of CGC Landran; Udey, resident of Manimajra (student of Khalsa College Sector 26); Sahil, resident of Manimajra and Raghav, resident of Manimajra (student of Khalsa College Sector 26).
Thakur, 22-year-old, succumbed to stab injuries he suffered in a scuffle between two groups on the PU campus in Sector 25 during a musical show on Friday night. Deceased Thakur, a second-year Computer Science Engineering student from the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), had sustained stab injuries in the thigh during the scuffle with a group of ‘outsiders’ at 9.30 pm on Friday night.
In a statement, UT Police said that during interrogation, they disclosed that on March 28, they all came to see musical concert of singer Maasum Sharma at UIET, Sector 25 Chandigarh. But there was a very heavy rush and after seeing the concert for some time when they were going outside due to heavy rush they got into an altercation and minor scuffle with students.
During this quarrel, the accused stabbed Thakur with a knife on the back and the other boy on the right leg and fled away from the spot. The Police said that efforts are being made to arrest the remaining assailants. Further Investigation is going on, Police added.
