10 Kgs IED recovered in Anti-Naxal Operation

Monday, 17 March 2025 | PNS | Jamshedpur

In a major breakthrough against Naxal activities, security forces recovered and successfully neutralized a 10-kilogram Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the dense forest areas of Ghatkuri and Laiselbig under Tonto police station area in West Singhbhum district. The explosive, strategically planted by Naxal operatives, was detected and defused by bomb disposal squads with the assistance of local police and paramilitary forces, preventing a potential large-scale attack.

The operation, part of an intensified security crackdown, is being carried out by multiple battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in collaboration with the Jharkhand Police. The deployed units include CRPF battalions 60 BN, 203 BN, 209 BN, 26 BN, 134 BN, 174 BN, 193 BN, and 197 BN. This coordinated effort aims to dismantle insurgent networks and prevent further acts of violence.

Security forces have been actively combing through the Chaibasa-Kolhan region and surrounding areas, focusing on high-risk zones frequently used by Naxalites. “The successful recovery of the IED is a crucial step in ensuring the safety of security personnel and civilians. Our forces remain vigilant and committed to neutralizing any threats posed by Naxal insurgents,” said a senior police official involved in the operation.

Authorities have ramped up intelligence-based operations and increased patrolling in vulnerable locations. Security checkpoints have been set up at key entry and exit points to restrict the movement of insurgents. The administration has urged residents to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.

“ The state government has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating the Naxal threat and restoring peace in the affected regions. The ongoing operations will continue until insurgent activities are completely eradicated and the security situation is fully stabilized. The discovery of the IED underscores the persistent challenges faced by security forces in their battle against left-wing extremism. However, the latest success highlights the efficiency and preparedness of the security apparatus in countering threats and ensuring the safety of the region’s inhabitants,” said an official.
