Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati held a pivotal meeting on Tuesday with leaders from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community, aiming to enhance the party’s influence at the grassroots level.
The discussions, which took place at the BSP headquarters, centered on expanding the party’s organizational reach, strengthening its OBC vote bank, and refining strategies for upcoming elections.
A large contingent of OBC leaders and party workers attended the meeting, signaling the BSP’s renewed focus on consolidating support among backward communities. With elections on the horizon,
the party is intensifying efforts to
reconnect with its traditional voter base and revitalise its presence in rural and semi-urban areas.
Addressing the gathering, Mayawati underscored the necessity of direct engagement with OBC voters, urging party cadres to amplify outreach initiatives and effectively communicate the BSP’s
commitment to their welfare. She emphasised that strengthening ties with marginalised sections would be key to the party’s resurgence.
“To regain the trust of the people, our workers must engage at the grassroots level, understand public concerns, and spread awareness about the BSP’s vision for social justice and empowerment,”
she said.
The meeting also served as a platform to assess the party’s recent electoral performance and discuss corrective measures. Leaders were instructed to launch
community interactions, door-to-door campaigns, and awareness drives, particularly in areas where the party has witnessed a decline in support.
A major point of discussion was countering misinformation about the BSP and reinforcing its core message of
inclusive governance. Special attention was given to issues such as reservation,
economic opportunities, and social welfare, which hold significant weight among OBC voters.
Mayawati’s renewed outreach underscores the BSP’s strategy to reassert its relevance in Uttar Pradesh’s political landscape. Party leaders were urged to work cohesively, ensuring that the BSP’s ideological foundations and policies resonate strongly with the electorate.
The meeting concluded with a call for unity and grassroots mobilisation, as the party prepares for the upcoming electoral challenges.
