The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) enforcement wing geared into action again after the Holi festival. After taking strict action against RMC plants on Monday, the team cracked down on the area under the metro pillars of Sikanderpur area on MG road on Tuesday.
DTP RS Batth and his team has visited the location twice and had asked the violators to vacate the area but few local people were still found to have occupied the Government land by way of renting the area or fixing their own businesses.
On Tuesday, the GMDA officers conducted the demolition drive at the furniture market near the Sikandarpur metro station where the team demolished three numbers of building material shops and even removed a lot of the material.
Further, the team also took help of towing machines and towed about five vehicles which were parked illegally under metro line.
The said area was highly encroached and residents had complained about traffic jams.
It was also found that material loaded vehicles were entering and exiting on the main road disturbing the traffic movement. Almost 20 such vehicles were also removed. Apart from this, the GMDA enforcement team had also warned the violators to prior to the drive to remove their material within a week but they did not pay heed to the same.
Gurugram citizens also sent multiple emails for removing encroachment because MG road is a major road connected to Delhi.
Batth was assisted by ATP Satinder Arya, JE Ashish tayagi, JE Sumit Boora , Pankaj and Pawan Kumar. The Mobility towing team from GMDA was also present in the drives.
About 15 policemen were also present on spot. The team also visited surroundings of road and made shopkeepers and others aware on abstaining from encroaching public spaces.
“We won’t allow this encroachment and that will first also make them aware of the issue. Still if encroachment is done we will take them to task. We are working on zero tolerance policy towards anyone illegally occupying Government land or public spaces that cause disturbance to the public at large,” said DTP GMDA.
