Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday said 19.29 per cent of this year's total Budget has been allocated to education while giving an overview of government's education policy. She also said the government is committed to promoting holistic education.
Making this assertion while participating in programme "Sankalp se Siddhi - Naya Satra, Nayi Urja" organised by the DAV College Managing Committee, she said in our vision, education is not just a means for academic success but a strong foundation for building the nation.
The goal is to nurture students who are not only intellectually competent but also possess strong character, empathetic thinking, and a deep sense of social responsibility, the chief minister added.
She remarked that the DAV institution is one that energises the resolve for education, culture and nation-building, instilling in students not only knowledge but also a sense of sensitivity and social responsibility.
The Chief Minister commended the 140-year-old illustrious tradition of the DAV institution and described it as a "laboratory of personality development."
She stated that the DAV institution, established in 1886 on the Vedic principles and ideals of Maharishi Swami Dayanand Saraswati, presents an exemplary synthesis of modern knowledge and ancient Vedic wisdom.
This fusion has transformed education into a medium for national character-building, rather than limiting it to academic achievement.
The institution promotes ideological awareness and cultural values in the field of education, thereby contributing meaningfully to nation-building.
Operating across 23 states through more than 1,000 schools, colleges and universities, this organisation emphasises not only academic excellence, but also moral values, patriotism and holistic personality development, shaping students into responsible and cultured citizens.
Great freedom fighters such as Lala Lajpat Rai, Bhagat Singh, and Chandrashekhar Azad, and renowned personalities like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who received education from DAV institutions, have made a mark not only in India but around the world.
Their contribution continues to inspire both society and the nation.
The Chief Minister said as Prime Minister Narendra Modi leads the nation with the vision of a "Viksit Bharat 2047," institutions like DAV play a crucial role. DAV is not just a center of knowledge - it is a true laboratory for nation-building.
In her concluding remarks, the Chief Minister called upon the audience to pledge that, through education, they will not only enlighten their own lives but also contribute to securing the nation's future and advancing India's stature as a global leader.
