The 45-day Maha Kumbh in Ayodhya has not only drawn millions of devotees but also resulted in an extraordinary financial windfall for the Ram Temple. Over Rs 26.89 Crore was donated to Ram Lalla in January and February alone, with Rs 20 Crore contributed during the religious gathering. Additionally, Rs 57 Lakh was received from foreign donors, marking a sharp increase in international contributions.
The temple saw an overwhelming influx of pilgrims, with over three Crore devotees visiting the sanctum during the Maha Kumbh.
To accommodate the surge, temple authorities extended darshan hours to 18-19 hours daily and increased the number of donation boxes from six to 34, leading to a significant rise in contributions.
Among the donations collected in early 2025, Rs 11.56 Crore was received in January, while February saw an even higher collection of Rs 15.33 Crore. The growing international support was evident as donations from the United States, the United Kingdom, Nepal, Australia, Canada, and Malaysia amounted to Rs 57 Lakh during the two-month period. In January, foreign donations stood at Rs 6 Lakh, surging to Rs 51 Lakh in February. Since April 2023, the total foreign contributions to the temple have reached Rs 10.43 Crore.
The financial strength of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has also allowed it to expand its land holdings. Between November 2024 and February 2025, the trust acquired 4.29 acres of land at 15 locations for Rs 36.61 Crore.
The purchases included multiple parcels in Haibatpur and Ranopali, further securing space for temple-related activities and infrastructure development.
Beyond the spiritual and financial impact, the Maha Kumbh has driven a significant economic boom in Ayodhya. Local businesses, vendors, and service providers have benefitted from the influx of devotees, with the estimated economic impact reaching Rs 2,500 Crore. The massive donations, expanding infrastructure, and rising global support reinforce Ayodhya’s position as a center of religious and economic transformation.
