BJP MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar has accused state officials of orchestrating a campaign against him, alleging that he is being targeted for raising public grievances. Speaking at a press conference in the state capital, Gurjar claimed that corrupt bureaucrats were sidelining legislators who speak in favour of people’s rights. He alleged that a deliberate attempt was being made to discredit him, asserting, “A systematic effort is underway to silence me because I highlight issues affecting the public. This is not just about me — it is an injustice to the people,” he said.
Gurjar also claimed that officials engaged in corruption often ignored legislators’ concerns, leading to friction between public representatives and the bureaucracy. “When an MLA approaches an officer with a public grievance, he is dismissed or even treated with hostility. Then, the media portrays the legislator as being against the Chief Minister, which adds fuel to the conspiracy,” he remarked.
He said his repeated calls for accountability had led to continuous harassment. “Officials try to paint me as an adversary of the CM to discredit my demands for public welfare. If my statements are false, I am ready to undergo a narco test to prove my integrity,” he asserted.
Calling on the media to act as democracy’s watchdog, Gurjar urged journalists to investigate his claims. “The press is the fourth pillar of democracy. I appeal to them to uncover the truth behind this injustice,” he said. His remarks have sparked a fresh political debate, with opposition parties using the controversy to criticise the BJP government.
“The BJP MLA’s statement validates the opposition’s claim that the Yogi government is anti-people and silences those who advocate for public welfare,” said senior Samajwadi Party leader and spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhry.
As of now, there has been no official response from the BJP leadership or the state government regarding Gurjar’s allegations.
