Once lovers on the run, now prisoners with new roles—Muskan Rastogi and her accomplice Sahil Shukla, accused of murdering Muskan’s husband Saurabh, have begun their lives behind bars with assigned jail duties. While Muskan will learn sewing and embroidery inside the women’s barrack, Sahil has chosen to grow vegetables within the prison compound.
After spending ten days in the treatment barrack as per protocol, the jail administration shifted Muskan to barrack 12B and Sahil to barrack 18A. Senior Jail Superintendent Dr. Viresh Raj Sharma stated that the transition followed the standard procedure of keeping new prisoners in the treatment barrack for an initial period before moving them to regular barracks.
Despite the high-profile nature of the case, no family member has visited Muskan in jail yet. However, Sahil’s
grandmother Pushpa, a resident of Bulandshahr, came to meet him, bringing clothes and snacks.
Tearfully, she said, “Sahil took great care of me. I can not believe he did this. Muskan and drugs ruined him. He was obsessed with her.” Sahil, in turn, assured her that he would take care of her once he was released. Jail officials say that Muskan has shown her willingness to talk to her daughter Pihu. “It all depend on the wishes of parents of Muskan Pihu is staying. If they allow, then only Muskan can talk to her daughter,” the official said.
The gruesome murder case shook Meerut, with forensic teams collecting evidence from Saurabh’s rented house in Indira Nagar, Brahmapuri. Muskan and Sahil had allegedly killed Saurabh by slitting his throat. In a shocking turn, Sahil took the severed head to his home before the duo fled to Shimla, Kasol, and Manali. Their crime came to light upon their return, leading to their arrest and subsequent imprisonment. The Brahmapuri police, along with forensic experts, have meticulously documented evidence, including blood samples and fingerprints, to prepare the charge sheet.
Meanwhile, Saurabh’s brother Bablu, devastated by the tragedy, expressed his intent to bring his niece, Pihu, home.
“I don’t want Pihu to be raised the way Muskan was raised,” he said, overcome with emotion. As the case progresses, both Muskan and Sahil now face a long stint in jail, adapting to their new routines—Muskan stitching, Sahil farming—far from the life they had imagined when they planned the murder.
