The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is advancing steadily in its electrification efforts, supporting Indian Railway ambitious vision of achieving 100 per cent electrification and net-zero carbon emissions. A major milestone has been reached with the successful electrification of the Alipurduar Division (APDJ), while electrification efforts in the Tinsukia Division (TSK) continue at a steady pace, said NFR said in a statement.
“In APDJ, the electrification of the Fakiragram–Golakganj section, spanning 46Route Kilometres (RKM)/ 50.536Track Kilometres(TKM), marks the final step toward full division electrification, ensuring greater efficiency and sustainability. Similarly, the electrification of New Coochbehar–Dinhata–Bamanhat sections, covering 49.81 RKM / 55.71 TKM, further reinforces the progress of railway electrification in NFR. This achievement features major upgradesincluding SCADA implementation, Trip Unit Rating supply at stationsand successful electric loco trials.Notably, the electric locotrial commenced at 19:16 hours, with the loco arriving at Fakiragram (FKM) at 20:11 hours, demonstrating the successful implementation of electrification,” NorthEast Frontier Railway.
“With these advancements, the Northeast Frontier Railway remains committed to modernizing railway infrastructure and actively contributing to the Government of India's "Mission Electrification" initiative. By prioritising sustainability and efficency, NFR is paving the way for a greener more reliable and future-ready railway network, seamlessly connecting the Northeastern states with the rest of the country,”
