After the ED raided AAP MP Sanjeev Arora on Monday, the Aam Aadmi Party said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is resorting to such actions because he is unable to defeat it in elections.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal in a press conference condemned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid on party MP Sanjeev Arora, labelling it a "politically motivated attack by the Modi government".
There was no immediate reaction available from the BJP to AAP's allegations.
"Today, they are conducting an ED raid on Sanjeev Arora. Before this, they arrested me, Sanjay Singh, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, Vijay Nair, and Bibhav. This is not an investigation against corruption. It is clearly an orchestrated attempt by the prime minister to crush one party using every resource, agency, and power at his disposal," Kejriwal said.
He reiterated AAP’s stance on integrity, saying the party remains committed to honesty and accountability.
"We have done nothing wrong, and we remain fearless. Despite these attacks, we stand unshaken," he added.
In another press conference, senior AAP leader and former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia echoed similar sentiments.
"Today, in a bid to destroy Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal, and our leaders, the prime minister's pet agency, ED, has raided the home of Sanjeev Arora, who represents us in the Rajya Sabha," Sisodia said.
He further accused Modi of using investigative agencies as political tools, citing their inability to defeat AAP and its national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, at the elections.
"Narendra Modi is resorting to such actions because he is unable to defeat us in elections," Sisodia said.
He asserted that the public is aware of the BJP's pattern of targeting politicians with ED raids, only for them to join the BJP afterwards and have their cases dropped.
"The BJP's washing machine has now been exposed to the public. Even the BJP's own voters are distressed by this washing machine," he said.
He further claimed that even the workers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are saying that those they were campaigning against yesterday are now joining the BJP, leaving them embarrassed.
Reacting to the ED raids, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh accused the prime minister of being obsessed with destroying AAP and focussing on vendettas rather than national issues like job creation and healthcare.
"The Prime Minister of India has fallen prey to a serious disease called 'hate ki bimaari' (disease of hatred). There is no cure for it. Every morning the prime minister's job is to finish AAP, finish its leaders, finish Arvind Kejriwal and finish his politics," Singh said.
In a post on X, Arora said, "I am a law-abiding citizen, am not sure about the reason for the search operation, and will cooperate fully with agencies and make sure all their queries are answered."
The Enforcement Directorate on Monday searched multiple locations in Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Gurugram, and Delhi in connection with an alleged land "fraud" case against AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjeev Arora and others, official sources said.
