Palamu DC Shashi Ranjan has asked the civil and police officials to maintain zero tolerance for illegal mining be it a stone quarrying or sand mining. 

All illegal mining and its illegal shipments have to be curbed with force of law, said the DC today at the district level task force meeting in regard to the illegal mining. 

The DC said "Officials have been directed to do physical measurement of the in situ mining just to determine if the mining is spilling over the prescribed limit."

"Again the yield is stored or stocked in violation or not." added the DC. 

Further transportation of the yield is on a valid challan or not. Officers are to see it. There must not be any laxity to these three aspects, reiterated the DC. 

He explained "The district administration is toying with the idea of invoking CCA (control of crime act) against habitual illegal mining operators or those who have been accused of illegal mining multiple times."

Shashi Ranjan said we have asked the officials to prepare dossiers to such offenders so as to draw the CCA. 

DC sounded peeved with a couple of BDOs and COs who despite orders for weekly surprise inspection of the vulnerable sites for illegal mining didn't do surprise inspection, throwing orders of the higher authorities to the wind. 

He said this dereliction tantamounts to nursing of vested interests which this administration will never brook. 

DC announced such a defiant BDO and CO would be made to face music. 

He agreed that illegal mining goes on in the forest land too but reports from the concerned department hardly come in. 

The divisional forest officer Medininagar Satyam Kumar has been directed to send a report of any mining taking in their forest land. 

Sub divisional magistrates along with the officers in charge of the respective police stations falling in the subdivisions are to be ruthlessly up and doing against illegal mining of stone or sand or both reminded the DC.
