Workshop on Ultrasound Guided Regional Anesthesia 2024

Sunday, 21 July 2024 | PNS | Bhopal

A two-day CME and workshop titled "AIIMS Bhopal Ultrasound Guided Regional Anesthesia 2024" is organized by the Department of Anesthesia at AIIMS Bhopal, in collaboration with the Research Society of Anesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology. The event was inaugurated today 20.07.2024 by Professor (Dr) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal.

During his inaugural address, Professor Singh highlighted the critical role of anesthesia in surgical procedures. He emphasized the advancements in local anesthesia techniques facilitated by ultrasound technology, which allow for precise and effective anesthesia administration. "In today's time, with the development of new technology, regional anesthesia has become very important and it has also been quite effective," said Professor Singh. He explained that this technology enables anesthesiologists to target specific areas of the body, reducing the need for general anesthesia and improving patient outcomes.

Professor Singh expressed his hope that the workshop would provide participants with the latest insights and practical skills in the field of ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia. "This workshop will give the participants an opportunity to get the latest information in this field, so that in future they will be able to use it better in their career," he added.

Dr. Vaishali Waindeskar, Head of the Department of Anesthesia, also spoke at the event, underscoring the precision and benefits of using ultrasound in local anesthesia. "

Regional anesthesia can be given with complete accuracy through ultrasound, and through this, the patient's surgery can be done in a better way. Additionally, the patient takes less time to recover," she noted. Dr. Waindeskar reiterated the department's pivotal role in all types of surgeries, as well as in the management of acute and chronic pain in specially designed operation theatres.

The workshop has attracted 85 delegates and 40 faculty members from various parts of the country, all eager to enhance their knowledge and skills in this specialized area of anesthesia.
